We parked away from everyone else for ease of parking and not being trapped since we need more manuevering room. We were driving our van while towing a popup tent trailer. (There is also an option of choosing a room with a canyon view, if you'd like to pay extra for it.) In 2011, my husband and I went stopped by for the buffet on our way back from a camping trip.
We have even stayed at the casino's hotel as a 'home base' when we went to the nearby Palm Springs atrractions which we found had nicely decorated clean rooms. (Hint: you can try to time it so you go towards the end of the lunch time and if you're there long enough the dinner entrees will start coming out). The buffet is reasonably priced in my opinion because of the variety of foods you can choose from though lunch would be the better deal. Over the years, my husband and I have gone to the Portero Canyon Buffet with family / friends usually on our way back from an enjoyable day trip at the Cabazon Outlets (which are just 5 minutes away). Morongo Casino is a gambling facility, but that is not why my main motivation to visit there.
